“Billie Jean” is an epic and great team work where both of the universes blend together to bring the audience into a journey through this version of legendary “Billie Jean”. Solar electronic elements, appealing vocal performance, a touch of retro elements : the track is simply delightful.
The duo allow us to rediscover Michael Jackson’s song with a new unexpected signature and a danceable energy thanks to that EDM synthesizers.
We’ve add the pleasure to have a little chat with DJ G-String to celebrate this new release that will rock our whole season.
Enjoy the music and RDV below :
Welcome DJ G-String! Tell us who you are and how you started to make music?
I am DJ G-String, been a Chicago DJ since high school, landed Chicago gigs in 2002 and that is where this started. Ironically I was at a stage in my DJ career when I wanted to make music and I asked a gospel singer I worked with at the time to sing on an album that I released in the early 2000s that was bad lol. But I wrote the music and lyrics and sang on the track as a guide for her. She heard it and said girl why aren’t you singing this? You have a great voice; since then I sing on all my tracks unless I have a collab and even then all of my tracks still have my vocals as I share a part in each of my tracks vocally.
What inspires you to create music?
My experiences really inspire me to write music. Always have.
What is your creative process?
Late at night, too much coffee, and usually I make tracks between 11 pm – 4 am. I don’t know why but this is the magic hour and always on Fridays.
Can you describe your latest release “Billie Jean”?
It is a cover song of Billie Jean. P5YCH0H and I did a cover of Sweet Dreams that was #7 on Beatport in Jan of this year. I wanted to find my favourite tracks and see what genres did not exist for them. So Billie Jean didn’t have a Big Room version and I thought P5YCH0H and I could pair together and make it epic.
What can we expect from you in the future?
I have only Cover songs now coming out for the rest of the year – Old Town Road in August, and LA Woman in October. I released a bunch of tracks already this year – mostly remixes of my own music and other collabs. I actually only released 1 Original this year “I want you to know” because I had writer’s block. But I am working on a few originals for 2023 and really focusing on them.
