Mum’s The Word Bring the Party on New Single “Polyjam”

If you have ever seen Mums The Word live, you already know they are not your typical band. The Philadelphia and South Jersey group has built a reputation for high-energy shows, big grooves, and a sound that draws from funk, rock, hip-hop, and reggae. It is the kind of mix that feels perfect for festivals, dance floors, and anywhere people just want to move.

Formed in 2016, the band has spent the last several years building a loyal following through constant touring and energetic performances. Their music leans heavily on rhythm and groove, but what really sets them apart is their ability to blend styles freely. One moment, you get funky bass lines and jam-style guitar; the next, you hear hip-hop influence or reggae vibes sliding into the mix.

A big part of the Mums The Word identity also comes from their connection to Philadelphia’s Mummers Parade tradition. The band performs in full Mummers costumes, adding a unique visual element that instantly sets them apart from the crowd. Their live shows also feature The Bally Girls Dance Team, bringing choreographed dance and movement into the performance and making the whole thing feel more like an event than just a concert.

Over the years, the band has toured across the United States multiple times, including runs from Philadelphia to San Diego, as well as an international tour with Norwegian Cruise Line. They have also shared the stage with jam band legends moe. during a New Year’s Eve show at The Fillmore in Philadelphia, performing in full Mummers gear.

Their upcoming single, “Polyjam,” captures exactly what the band is about. The track leans into funky grooves, jam-band energy, and a playful spirit of making music without limits. It is inspired by collaboration and the idea that great music happens when creative people come together, and we can’t wait for it to be released.

With nearly a decade behind them, Mums The Word is poised for their best year yet.
