 Q&A with BRANDEUS

– Hey BRANDEUS! What’s the story behind your stage name?
My cultural background is Brazilian so I decided to incorporate Portuguese/latin within my first name. As my first name is Brandon I removed the “o and n” and added the Latin word “Deus”. Deus translates to a higher power.

– What was the starting point of your music career?
I really got invested into my music when I started to get traction after my song war went viral on TikTok.

– You have a diverse musical background, from performing in a rock band to pursuing a solo career in R&B and hip-hop. How has your musical journey shaped your current sound?
My musical journey has shaped my music in a way I like to keep my style versatile and always changing. Once I get to a certain point in my music career I’d like to evolve from hip-hop and rnb to modern pop or even country. But that won’t be for a while.

–  “Paro” is all about manifesting success and overcoming obstacles. Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind this track and what “Paro” means to you personally?
This track means a lot to me because it motivates me to follow through with my music. Most successful music artists have best friends as their manager, producer etc and have built a strong support team and inner circle around them. They also tend to get favoured by press, media and have a lot of resources behind them. I don’t have a team behind me or friends in the industry encouraging me. Sometimes this feeling of solidarity can be very disheartening. But if you manifest and believe in yourself enough success will always follow.

– Teaming up with Canadian independent label Aesthetics Records for “Paro” must have been an exciting experience. How did this collaboration come about, and what has it been like working with them?
As mentioned, it’s very hard to make genuine connections and gain support with other creatives in the music industry. However, aesthetics records who is run by nic, has been one of the most amazing independent label/creators  to work with. We connected through Instagram over a year ago and been collaborating ever since. We’ve worked with each other for some time now and always manage to get great results when the two of us work together.

– What’s coming next?
Next I will be pushing out more singles and will be releasing an RnB/rap mixtape by the end of the year. The plan is to promote this tape by doing an east coast tour of Australia.
