The renowned, industry-established Lil Eddie releases an exciting project, “Statue (Duets)”, which reinvents his 2009 hit “Statue”. The twelve-time Grammy-nominated and two-time Grammy-winning singer-songwriter celebrates this iconic track after 15 years, and creates this selection of duets as a gift to his international fanbase.
Considering its enduring popularity in the Philippines, it seemed only fitting for Lil Eddie to join forces with Filipino R&B king Jay R on a Tagalish version of “Statue”. The singer also invites Mexican-American singer Frankie J to add a sweet Latin touch in a Spanglish version of the track. Lastly, Lil Eddie collaborates with Aston Merrygold, ex-member of the British band JLS, in an acoustic version that transforms the song with a new, modern flair.
“Statue (Duets)” uses a sweet, heartwarming guitar-sound which supports the amazing vocals of Lil Eddie and his collaborators. This reinvention brings a fresh dimension to the original and showcases differently the iconic lyrics of “Statue”.
With this project, Lil Eddie not only celebrates his long-lasting success, but also invites his audience to experience his music in a new light, proving his musical versatility and his multiculturality. “Statue (Duets)” is not only a tribute, but a reflection of Lil Eddie’s connection with his global audience. Moreover, it is a project which demonstrates Lil Eddie’s artistry and ability to reinvent his art while still showcasing exactly why “Statue” is a song that was—and still is—so loved.
