Hailing from Sydney, Australia, this 19-year-old artist is rapidly establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with, capturing hearts worldwide with her unique storytelling and captivating vocal style.

Hattie Oates’ musical journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. She gained recognition from industry insiders, including Pitch Perfect’s vocal producer, Deke Sharon, who recognized her exceptional talent. Her 2022 victory in the AC (adult contemporary) category of the International Songwriting Competition for her single ‘GOODBYE’ marked a significant milestone in her career.

With a string of successful releases, Hattie Oates has demonstrated her ability to craft music that resonates with audiences of all backgrounds. Her latest release, “YOU COULD LOVE ME BACK” dives into themes of vulnerability and the fear of falling in love.

Oates shared her inspiration behind the song, revealing, “I have never fallen in love, and frankly, it scares me, so I keep it at a distance. I’m trying to learn how to be more vulnerable in many areas of my life, and I guess writing this song is at least one step in the right direction! I also seem to write about dreaming a lot; clearly, I’m not satisfied with reality haha! So I wanted to write a song about allowing myself to fall for someone, not thinking about whether it’s going to be a ‘mistake,’ or end in an absolute ‘car crash’ of a ‘heartache,’ but at least be open to feeling something, even if it hurts.

This introspective approach to songwriting adds depth and authenticity to Hattie Oates’ music, making it relatable to a wide range of listeners. Despite her young age, she skillfully captures the complexities of love and vulnerability. Her music invites a diverse range of reactions, from dancing and smiling to yelling and crying, ensuring that every listener finds something to connect with.
