Discovering Kanu Chauhan

In 2022, Kanu Chauhan did one of the bravest things a person can do: emigrate to another country with no support network. Many people give in to loneliness, but Chauhan found her place within a community of artists and creatives. This nurturing network is indirectly responsible for her 2nd single of this year: Perfect Sign.

Perfect sign blends the nostalgia of early 10s’ pop by way of Capital Cities or Owl City with traditional Indian elements, with a sitar prominent throughout. The result is a cross-continental celebration of both the UK’s and India’s pop scenes, wrapped in diasporic jubilance at a universal truth: love

Speaking of the track, Chauhan says, “Through Perfect Sign, I wanted to capture both vulnerability and hope, the moments that define our lives and our journeys. This song is about that one person who makes everything feel right, even in life’s most uncertain moments.”

Slightly sullied by an extremely abrupt ending, this is a production issue, and if anything, it proves that the listener wants more. The joy from this multilingual track is evident, with hope radiating from every verse, including one line that translates to ‘The wind that came through the windows… I found your name in it.’ With 200,000 views and rising on YouTube, Chauhan has made an immediate impact in 2026: her career is only just starting, don’t miss out on being one of the first onto her Bollywood-inflected pop.
