“honest” finds Blue Capricorn operating in the space where electronic atmosphere meets deeply personal songwriting. The latest single from Rodrigo Caraballo-Marin is an understated but immersive track, built around texture, mood and emotional detail rather than obvious grand gestures. It is the kind of song that reveals more with each listen.
Caraballo-Marin has spent years developing this sound, and that experience shows. Following his 2023 EP ¡AYÚDAME!, Blue Capricorn has continued to explore the meeting point between ambient production and intimate songwriting. “honest” feels like a natural progression, retaining the project’s dreamlike qualities while sounding more focused and emotionally exposed.
LOREN KOLE’s involvement proves particularly important. The Dallas-based Cuban-American artist and producer brings a complementary sensibility to the track, helping shape a collaboration that feels organic rather than simply additive. The fact that the song developed over 18 months gives its polished final form extra significance. What began as one idea has been given enough time to evolve into something considerably more nuanced.
There is a quiet confidence running through “honest.” It does not demand attention with excessive production or dramatic turns. Instead, it draws you closer through atmosphere and feeling. As the third track from when you come back, transcend me, it offers an intriguing glimpse into what could be Blue Capricorn’s most vulnerable and ambitious chapter yet.
