April Again EP Review 2026 Track-by-Track Look at a Rising UK Alt-Rock Band

April Again’s debut EP feels less like an introduction and more like a snapshot of a band already finding their feet. Instead of easing in, they come straight out with a set of tracks that show range, confidence and a clear idea of what they want to sound like.

Opening with “Getaway,” the tone is set pretty quickly. It is darker than the rest of the EP and leans into a heavier sound, built around a driving bassline and a restless kind of energy. Lyrically, it touches on wanting to escape while feeling stuck, which gives it a bit more weight than your standard alt-rock opener.

From there, “My Limit” keeps things moving but shifts the focus slightly. It is more direct and hook-driven, with a chorus that feels built for repeat listens. It is one of those tracks that shows how well the band can balance emotion with something catchy, setting the tone for the next release, “Slow Down”. If you were a die-hard indie/alternative rock fan in 2010-2015, then this is for you. “Slow Down” has us alt-rock fans coming out of retirement; melody- and lyric-wise, it’s a nostalgic and uplifting trip back to when indie rock was at an all-time high, whilst staying completely true to their own authentic style.

Then there is “In My Mind,” which stands out as the strongest moment on the record. It is easy to see why it has picked up the most attention. Everything about it feels locked in, from the structure to the melody. It is the kind of track that sticks straight away and represents the band at their best.

Closing things out with “Circles,” the EP finishes on a high. It ties together a lot of what they do well, strong hooks, emotional themes and a sound that feels both polished and raw at the same time. It leaves a lasting impression rather than fading out quietly.

What makes this EP work is how natural it feels. Nothing sounds forced or overthought. Each track plays its part, and together they show a band that is already building momentum. For a debut, it is a confident release that sets a solid base for whatever comes next, and we’re all going to want to be a part of that journey.
