If you’re looking for a new artist to listen to during this strange time, look no further. Like a steamrolling train, Leo Ruff’s irresistible melodies and thumping grooves electrify his music. And he’s only just getting started.
The talented 18-year-old Producer & DJ from London, UK leans on the brighter side of dance, influenced heavily by Sigala and MK. Like their silky and groovy sound, Leo’s music has earned him a warm welcome from both his rapidly expanding fanbase as well as other talents like Tungevaag and EDX, the latter of which played Leo’s track on his radio show.
Ruff’s debut single “Get Down” is a stomping dancefloor filler. As he told (insert publication name), it is “probably the most powerful song [he’d] ever written,” reflecting the lockdown struggles faced by both Ruff and his siblings, who also played a part in the final production. Ruff is one of the first artists to have a Fundraising Pick on Spotify, through which he is promoting Mind, a UK and Wales charity dedicated to supporting those who struggle with mental health.
A gifted performer, Ruff also graced us with his debut club night in London on the 28th October, “Bass Beef” which is driven by himself and a collective of promoters, showing us another side of this versatile artist.
In a recent interview, Ruff shares how he wrote “Get Down” with friend and collaborator James Harrie in his childhood home, which he describes as “in the thick of it…right next to a buzzing high street,” revealing that it was really what drove the track; “I wanted to channel that non-stop hubbub right outside into a high-paced, chaotic tune”.
Ruff has played at clubs throughout the UK and held a summer residency at the renowned Corsaire club in France. Most recently, he sold out his first-ever headline show at the iconic Basing House in London. In the anticipation of his next release, we cannot wait to watch Ruff flourish. “Get Down” is out now on all platforms and peaked at 13 on the UK Club Charts.
